Avery, Nain, and I met up with friends at Oaks Park, which is an amusement park here in Portland. It was my first trip there. Overall, I give it a thumbs up as far as amusement parks go. Not too big, not too crowded, definitely not too expensive, and fairly clean.
Avery, upon exiting many-a-ride, would exclaim, "That was AWESOME!" My girl does not lack for enthusiasm.
Volunteer
I've started volunteering with a (fairly) new non-profit here in Portland called Sharecycle. I was bored one night, went onto craigslist to see if any volunteer opportunities "spoke" to me, and found one posted by Sharecycle. Its mission is to distribute recycled items from the US to communities in developing countries with a need for basic goods. As everyone knows, I like to organize Stuff. I like, even better, giving Stuff I Don't Need to people who do need it and will use it. And I like to help Stuff avoid landfills when possible. So this spoke to me.
The current project the group is working on is sending a batch of sewing accessories and educational supplies to a girls' orphanage in Tanzania.
Slacker Week --> Not So Much Slack Week
This should have been called Slacker Week for me. I skipped Crossfit both days, Avery didn't have her usual slew of activities, and I've generally not done a whole lot this week.
Next week, it's back to the grind. Avery starts her summer camp through her school, thank goodness. She's been asking me for the past few weeks, "Will I get to see Teacher Millie today?"
Avery also starts two weeks of daily swimming lessons. She kept asking about them, so I finally got on the ball and signed her up for general (meaning not private and not semi-private) lessons.
In the evenings next week, I'm busy with two dinners out, a volunteer meeting, a G date night, and a Timbers game.
