Fourth meal
In addition to my love, love, love of sweets, I have the bad habit of indulging in a fourth meal after dinner. Actually D and I both have this habit, though our indulgence of choice differs. His vice is cheese and crackers; mine is sweets or carbs. Since I made the change to shower in the evenings - still loving that change, even if I can't make it happen every day - curbing my fourth meal has been much easier. But I'm so hungry right now that I'm about to cave and have a bagel. Must resist!
Three
Avery loved her return dance class today. She especially loved that we got there early and got to watch the big girls in their dance class. She was absolutely enthralled watching the girls line up and do various ballet poses. It also amazed me that Miss Erica remembered Avery's name despite not having seen her in a month or so. This woman teaches so many kids, yet she knows all their names immediately. No struggling for recollection.
I'm so excited for Avery to turn three because it opens a new world of classes she can take. She'll be able to enroll in pre-ballet! Before discovering Laurelhurst Dance Studio and Miss Erica, I was weary of signing Avery up for dance classes. I'd heard horror stories about expensive costumes and putting make up on the kids and recitals. That is so not the point of Laurelhurst, at least what I've seen of classes so far. And, as a bonus, it's cheap. Awesome.
Three-years-old also means I can sign Avery up for swim lessons that don't require me to be in the pool. Yes! I plan to sign her up for lessons in January. I will be shocked if she doesn't love swim lessons as much as she loves dance lessons. I'm just a little worried that she'll just jump in the pool out of sheer excitement.
Anderson Cooper and Thomas Friedman
My opinion of both these men went up immeasurably after I read this op-ed by Friedman published a couple of days ago. It enrages me that journalists and the media are basically the mouth pieces of the politicians. I'm impressed that Cooper took a stand and traced the source of a lie spouted by a politician on his show. Why don't journalists hold politicians accountable when they lie? And why are people so OK with Rush Limbaugh continually lying to them? If you had an employee who lied about things as often as Limbaugh does, wouldn't you fire him/her? Seriously, I have no idea why people are willing to put their trust and faith in proven liars.
