Mystery Solved

We came home several months ago to discover a hole in our living room carpet.

Neither dog is prone to this type of behavior, so we couldn't figure out what happened. Tonight the likely answer was revealed. Turtle was lying on the floor and as she got up, we heard a loud tear, looked over and the ring that holds the tags on her collar had gotten snagged on the carpet and brought up another (smaller) chunk. I will never get berber carpet again. I absolutely hate it. Not just because of this, but because it mats down in areas that are commonly walked on and laid on and, therefore, it never looks clean in high-traffic areas, even after it's shampooed. At least we know the dogs are not wantonly destroying our carpeting.
