After going to the gym and running 2 miles with a side stitch the whole time, I figured there's got to be a way to prevent them, so I came home and did some research. This article I found says that research indicates that if you exhale when your right foot hits the ground while running, you're more likely to experience a side stitch. Go figure. Fortunately, there are other things that can be done to prevent them because I cannot imagine trying to figure out if I'm breathing when my right foot is hitting the ground.
