Acupuncture?

I did manage to drag myself to the gym today after D and I had a false start this morning. We got up, but D wasn't feeling well, so we went back to bed. We'd even gotten dressed and everything. That extra sleep sure did feel good, though. I didn't do weights (got freaked out), but I have some weights here at the house, so I'm thinking I'll do a workout here with those to make myself feel better. Perhaps I should just try and do weight workouts at home and just use the gym for cardio.

I was about to run to the grocery store to get food for tonight and this week, but D just called and told me about a baseball game he is going to tonight. Score! Normally, I'd be bummed to not have him home in the evening, but since it gets me out of grocery shopping for the day, I repeat: score! I believe I could live off of bread crumbs for a weeks on end if it meant not having to go grocery shopping.

So I'm thinking about trying acupuncture for my sleep problems. I can get to sleep, but I am sleeping worse now than ever before. I don't sleep through any night and wake up completely exhausted everyday. I could easily go back to bed right now if I allowed myself (I don't because then I really do have something to blame for a sleepless night). I'm so frustrated. I avoid caffeine after noon like it's lethal, I'm so un-stressed right now I might as well be a rag doll, and I am not napping during the day. I even tried drinking a 1/2 glass of wine the other night to get me through the night. That helped a little, but I still woke up at least 4-5 times. I'm either hot, or I hear a noise, or I'm cold, or my ear hurts, or something wakes me up. It's not D because I don't sleep well when he's out of town. Argh. Anyway, I will not take any sleep medications because the last thing I need is to get hooked on some drugs, so I thought maybe acupuncture. I don't know - what do you all think? Would you try it?

Here's a picture of Eddie with Turtle as a puppy. I like how it looks like he's taking care of her.

i know it sounds a bit too easy, but try not to think so much when you go to sleep. i've found that when i force myself to stop thinking as i lie in bed trying to go to sleep. it doesn't always work, as i'm sleeping poorly myself lately, but worth a shot. j

I find that if I take a half-dose of a sleeping pill (Simply Sleep, Tylenol PM) (a half dose is one pill), that I get a very good night's sleep and it resets me back into a better sleep pattern. That said, I am a very good sleeper by default, so I'm sure our "sleep programming" is entirely different.

Melatonin is also an option. It gives some people bizarre dreams, while it has no effect on other people. I know a LOT of people who use melatonin. It's a "natural substance" of your body so it's considered extremely 'safe' whenever I read articles.

That said, I'd certainly give acupuncture a whirl.
