Last night we enjoyed a nice dinner at a restaurant whose Executive Chef trained under Thomas Keller. The food was very good, though D and I think we prefer Paley's Place and Higgins to Giorgio's. I can't remember all of the dishes and they don't have a website with their menu (gasp!), but I had something like this:
- Amuse Bouche: Butternut Squash Soup with Pumpkin Seed Oil
- Endive Salad with Goat Cheese and Plums
- Butternut Squash Agnolotti
- Lemon Meringue Tart with Raspberry Sorbet
Tonight, I'll be making dinner:
- Roast Rack of Lamb with Mint Sauce
- Roasted Butternut Squash, Red Grapes, and Sage
- Couscous with Raisins and Pinenuts
- Roasted Potatoes (for D's starch ... he's not a couscous fan)
It's mid-morning and about time for my daily cake fix.
I love "How to Cook Everything" by Bittman. It was my first cookbook that I really liked.
ReplyDeleteOur menu today:
- Jay's Deviled Eggs
- Colleen's Mom Ham
- Pear, Pecan & Asiago Salad (probably epicurious but I forget the source)
- Mashed Potatoes with Safeway Turkey Gravy
- Fruit Salad
- Frozen corn (heated)
- Hawaiian rolls
- Grandma Ople's apple pie (all recipes)
Do you take requests? Jay and I would like to request that the Smith Review let us know if "The Good Shepherd" is as good as the previews seem indicate.
Merry Christmas!
Your menu sounds delicious!
ReplyDeleteYes, we do indeed take requests. That movie is on our list to see, however, not sure if Mom wants to see it. If not, then we'll have to wait until the 26th to see if. If she's up for it, we may just see it tonight!
Merry Christmas back at you!
