This is why I think television news is the root of all evil: Texas boy hangs self; saw Saddam on TV. Why did they ever show the hanging footage on TV news?
We watched about 10 minutes of local news the other night because one of those teasers made me want to watch a story. In those 10 minutes, I thought I lived in the most violent city and that everyone is about to die at any moment. It's so absolutely messed up. One of the stories was on this guy who was injured in Iraq and is now brain dead in a hospital in Germany. The stupid local news was talking about how his church congregation is praying for a miracle and had the story go on for about 1-2 minutes with his youth group praying and them talking about how they wanted a miracle. HE'S BRAIN DEAD! That's dead, people. That's not a coma. There's no chance of survival. He's dead. And they're spending time focusing on that? First, it's irresponsible to get any one's hopes up that he might not die. Second, if they want to cover that subject matter, why not devote time to an injured soldier who's back and needs help of some sort from the community? There's got to be a bunch of those.
