packing!

I'm moving, I'm moving, I'm moving! There is absolutely no way my move can live up to my expectations. That is how excited I am to be moving. No more house in suburbia!

Packing halted for a few weeks. I have this week to finish packing. I move next Monday. It's nice that I can leave the stuff that I need to donate/sell/giveaway in the house or garage after I move. This way I can just focus on setting that stuff aside and preparing the new stuff.

After I've moved and settled, I've decided that I'm going to sell my Sweet Ride (aka mini van) and get a smaller car. I'm thinking about the Honda Fit (Sport w/ Navigation). While I don't want bells and whistles like leather seats or rimmed this or chrome that, I am one who loves the technology toys within a car. It's worth it to me to get the bluetooth and navigation stuff.

Abbie's doing great. Still a pain in the ass, yet I know she'll be great in a few years. She's still mouthy when she's frustrated. Having a plentiful supply of bully sticks is key. Avery is MUCH more comfortable around Abbie. She'll hug her and kiss her now. Abbie is not much of a cuddler (yet?) but she'll put up with this as long as she's been exercised recently. We're doing multiple walks and/or trips to the dog park. I try to take her with me whenever I can. The summer weather limits me in this regard since I can't leave her in the car.

She's off to camp today. I love the camp. I feel it's a much better outlet for exercise than doggie day care.

Avery's doing great, too. She is back to her happy self after a rough few months there at the beginning of the separation. She says she loves Daddy's place. I know she doesn't want us to move, but I think once she is in her new room and we are settled, she'll be happy where we are. It'll be a rough few weeks without all the attention from Nain, that's for sure.

Let's see, what else? This weekend Avery and I (and Elise) hosted a brunch for Avery's two favorite teachers. Christie was kind enough to let us take over her condo since all my dishes are packed up.

Oh, I know! I ate gluten! A lot of it. I threw caution to the wind and had some of the blueberry french toast from the brunch. I didn't bother to make it gluten free because I didn't have time to go get good GF bread. I hadn't intended to eat it, but I was hungry and curious - and Avery would be with D for the next 24 hours if I got really sick - so I did it. No ill effects! Then I really decided to test it and got a piece of my favorite cake from Piece of Cake. No ill effects! I don't think this means I can eat gluten regularly. I know that were I to start again, I would eventually have the same fatigue, headaches, and bad skin. The nausea was only something that started after the elimination diet. It does, however, mean that maybe I can splurge on one gluten-laden dish per month (maybe every other month). We'll see. It's an exciting development. I do believe that the type of gluten I'm eating matters. That will need to be tested with time.
